Titita Empowerment Foundation sponsored 25 girls for the Give Back Project
Queen’s College Old Girls Association, Abuja & North Chapter · Founder’s Day Walkathon
Titita Empowerment Foundation sponsored 25 girls through the Give Back Project of the Queen’s College Old Girls Association (QCOGA), Abuja & North Chapter. The project formed part of the chapter’s Founder’s Day Walkathon on Saturday 10 October 2026.
Under the Give Back Project, the chapter set out to provide care packs to 250 girls at ₦7,000 per girl, to mark the International Day of the Girl Child on 11 October. Members were invited to adopt as many girls as they could. The Foundation’s sponsorship covers 25 of those care packs, one in every ten.
A walk on Founder’s Day, a year from the centenary
Queen’s College, Lagos was founded on 10 October 1927. To mark its 99th Founders’ Day, the Queen’s College Old Girls’ Association held a global walkathon on 10 October 2026, with old girls walking in cities across Nigeria, the United States, Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom. The walk opened the countdown to the school’s centenary in 2027.
The Abuja & North Chapter, which covers Abuja and the North East, North West and North Central zones, set off at 7 a.m. Members contributed in cash or in kind towards walkathon essentials and refreshments, and wore branded QCOGA shirts and caps.
The association’s president, Engr. Temitayo Okunoren-Makindipe, has set up a committee chaired by Ms Prisca Soares to prepare the centenary programme. The association’s existing work for the school includes the Light Up QC solar lighting initiative, an endowment fund, mentoring and career guidance, and improvements to learning and sporting facilities.
Why the Foundation took part
Girls’ education and second-chance learning is one of the Foundation’s six programme areas. Supporting an established alumnae network that is already reaching girls is consistent with how the Foundation works: it adds to programmes that already function rather than building parallel ones.
“Our ambition is to transform the sisterhood shared by generations of old girls into enduring support for today’s students and those yet to come.”
